Laura Fergusson Trust Incorporated ("Laura Fergusson") is an incorporated society established in 1967.
It commenced some 43 years ago, when a progressive group of people, lead by Laura, Lady Fergusson, wife of our then Governor General, Sir Bernard and Mary, Lady Caughey chose action over words and set about assisting disabled persons, by providing a solution to their residential problems.
Laura Fergusson purchased property in Auckland and developed accommodation services to meet this aim. These were the first facilities of their kind to cater for the residential needs of the disabled community in New Zealand.
Guided since by a strong volunteer group, comprising the Board and Women’s Committee, the original concept has evolved and continues to flourish via their leadership in unison with a professional executive team.
